# Ranks

Ranks is oneof the most important systems BurkhardtCAD has. Ranks are what can give permissions, discord roles and whitelisting to members. When trying to create a rank you will be given this menu:

From here you are able to set the information andpermissions you need to get setup. Giving certain permissions requires you to be an advanced user, but once given, that rank can use them permissions. This is here to ensure safety towards permissions that Jace deems secure and couldbe abused if not restricted.

Department Linked is a very important. This is what our systems use for Badge Numbers and other important systems. This is a simple dropdown and all of your departments that are created will appear here.
