# Departments

Departments allows you to create all your departments within your community. When creating your department, you will be faced with this menu:

BurkhardtCAD is known for its advanced customizations and departments is one of many that prove that. This menu allows you to set the name, abbreviation, type, discord information and even CAD types.

#### Type

Type refers to what type of department its classed as. As you can see from his dropdown here:

You can select the following. Now, type is an important part of creating a department because this dictates what CADs see. For example if you put a Fire Department as Law Enforcement, they will show up on their CADs, which isnt fun. This is the same for Dispatchers. The Dispatchers Panel splits all LAW ENFORCE and FIRE & EMS into groups to allow them easier manage.

#### Discord Section

For `DISCORD ROLE IDS` and `PING DISCORD ROLE IDS`, this is where you put your discord role ids in. Make sure that you do comma separate e.g. `123456,1234567`.

#### Logos

Now you are able to upload your own Department Logos. You will also see an option for Portal Image. Portal Image is the image that shows on the background of the main page.

Please note that Portal Image only shows for the users `Primary Department` and not for reserves. If you do not set a Portal Image, it will show the defauly Burkhardt Software banner.

#### CAD Type

BurkhardtCADs core systems are build to be able to handle new CADs and allowing our customers free rain when it comes to the CADs we make. When we release new CADs, you can pick and choose what CAD each department uses.

Different CADs do not mean looks, they are fully new systems. Development of new CADs do take time and Jace is fully transparent on WIP images and suggestions.

#### Statuses

BurkahrdtCAD allows departments to pick and choose exactly how they want their statuses to look as for text and color. This is especially good for community which their departments use different 10 codes or statuses. You can simply change the text and color through this menu.
